The 30-second test
Open the Phone app and dial *#06#, as if you were calling a number. A window opens showing your phone's identifiers.
An EID line appears
Along with the IMEI, you see an EID line: your phone supports eSIM.
No EID line
Only the IMEI shows up: your phone does not support eSIM.
On a dual-SIM phone, the IMEI may appear twice: that's normal. Only the EID line matters.
Brand by brand
To give you a rough idea, here are the compatible models from Apple, Samsung and Google.
- Apple
- iPhone XS, XR and every newer model.
- Samsung
- Galaxy S20 and newer (except the S20 FE), Galaxy Note20, Z Fold and Z Flip, A54, A55, A35, A36 and A56.
- Pixel 3 and newer.
Samsung Galaxy A0x, A1x, A2x and most A3x models released before 2023 are not compatible. Neither is the Galaxy A34. For the A26, it depends on the version: run the *#06# test.
A phone's age doesn't tell the whole story: a Galaxy A16 released in 2025 has no eSIM, while a 2018 Pixel 3 does. And the same model can come in a version without eSIM, like most iPhones sold in mainland China. When in doubt, the *#06# test settles it.
Your phone must also be unlocked
An eSIM needs a phone that supports eSIM and is not locked to a carrier (“unlocked”). A phone bought from a carrier may be locked, in which case the eSIM could not work. If you're unsure, your carrier can confirm whether your phone is unlocked.
Not compatible?
We'd rather tell you before you pay: without an eSIM chip, our plan won't work on your phone.
Travelling within the European Union? A mobile plan from an EU country often already includes roaming there: your carrier can tell you what's covered.
